Sum 41 est un quatuor punk-rock américain formé en 1996. Sum 41 s'est imposé comme la sensation punk-rock incontournable du nouveau millénaire. Sa musique se fait la prolongation de celle de groupes tels que Green Day et The Offspring mais aussi de celle de Black Sabbath et Iron Maiden, dont le combo a également retiré un certain héritage.

Sum 41 a explosé en 2001 dès la sortie de son album All Killer, No Filler. Pour eux, single rime avec carton, on se souvient notamment de Fat Lip, In Too Deep et We're All To Blame. Le groupe a remis le couvert en 2002 avec Does This Look Infected et en 2004 avec Chuck.

Sum 41 a ensuite connu quelques turbulences, suite au départ de l'un des membres d'origine, le guitariste Dave Brownsound, et la séparation d'avec leur société de gestion. Résultat: le chanteur-compositeur-guitariste Deryck Whibley s'est lui même chargé du 4ème album, Underclass Hero, distribué dans les bacs en juillet 2007.

"On n'avait pas été aussi unis depuis notre premier album", a déclaré Deryck. "Je ne voulais faire ce disque que si tout le monde y participait. Sinon, ce n'était pas la peine. Il y aurait eu trop d'énergie négative".
